Ma è Canon?
Lo sappiamo che la domanda fatidica che vi state ponendo tutti è questa.
Bene, dovete sapere che il Canone del franchise di Indiana Jones è strutturato a livelli gerarchici, proprio come lo era il canone di Star Wars ai tempi di George Lucas, prima che avvenisse la distinzione tra Canon e Legends.
Proprio come accadeva prima per l’Universo Espanso di Star Wars, la continuity delle avventure del professore archeologo più famoso del mondo è mantenuta attraverso l’Indycron continuity database, il cui custode è lo stesso Leeland Chee, attuale membro del Lucasfilm Story Group e gestore anche dell’Holocron continuity database. Poiché non è stato rivelato se verrà fatta, o se sia già stata fatta internamente, una riorganizzazione analoga a quella Canon-Legends di Star Wars, al momento l’Expanded Adventures di Indiana Jones resta perciò organizzato secondo la seguente gerarchia:

Poiché lo scopo della timeline è ripercorrere le avventure del nostro archeologo preferito in quanto tali, per evitare ripetizioni, dalla cronologia sono state tralasciate opere come le novelization e gli adattamenti a fumetti o in formato videogioco, riportando solamente l’avventura originale attraverso il media principale. In aggiunta, nella cronologia sono stati considerati anche due fumetti che non hanno mai visto la pubblicazione, ma i cui eventi vengono comunque menzionati in The World of Indiana Jones.

Nel riportare le avventure del giovane Indy in formato Film TV, si è fatto riferimento agli ultimi adattamenti compiuti da George Lucas per la pubblicazione prima in VHS e poi in DVD della serie The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, dove gli episodi, inizialmente usciti in tv tra il 1992 e il 1996 nella serie The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, sono stati rimontati ed adattati in 22 lungometraggi di due ore disposti in ordine cronologico. The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, oltre ad incorporare nuovo materiale e aggiustare la timeline, vede inoltre la rimozione di tutte le cornici della serie originale con Indiana Jones novantatreenne, mantenendo solo quella ambientata nel 1950 con Harrison Ford in Mistery of the Blues.
